How to turn off airpods from reading texts?

How do I stop Airpods from reading my text messages? 

Go to Settings> Control Centre & find Announce Messages. Tap next to the Announce Messages. If you remove it from the Control Centre, Siri will not announce any message. You have to re-enable Announce Messages with Siri again using the same steps if you want to use them.
