Sony has been one of the top competitors when it comes to speakers and there has been a lot of hype around their Sony SRS-XB43 Bluetooth speaker. We’re here to talk about the same; does Sony SRS-XB43 have the same sound quality that Sony is known for?

Keep reading the article to find out if it is worth the cash you have to pay for the same.

Sony SRS-XB43

Sony’s SRS-XB43 comes under the category of wireless waterproof Bluetooth speakers with a weight of 6.5 pounds. It has a durable fabric that covers most of its body which can possibly get damaged over time if users are rough with it.

They also have a LED strip that flashes different colors with woofers and tweeters in front of the speakers with their own separate lights. Users have a choice to change colors according to their wishes from the Sony App.

Given below are the features provided by Sony SRS-XB43 Bluetooth.

Button and Controls

The Sony SBSXB43 has all the regular common control including the power button, play and pause button, volume button and also a live sound button that changes audio on pressing.

It also has a stamina mode which saves battery but it is advised to not use that as it cuts down the majority of the bass. There is also a button that tells the speaker’s battery with one press along with that it turns off the speaker lights in case you do not want it. It is located behind the water-resistant flap.

The button located in the middle lets you pair your speaker to other Sony speakers in the same range like XB43, 23, or 33. The last button known as the stereo pair allows us to connect with another XB43 that allows us to play music through the right and left speakers individually.

Battery Life and Water Resistance

Sony claims to provide a 24-hour battery life but that is not the truth. You can only get a full 24-hour battery life if you are using it on stamina mode along with half volume which does not sound as good. Sony claims to provide around 14 hours on regular mode.

But realistically looking, when calculated, Sony provides you around 4-5 hours of battery life. Sony SRS-XB43 is water-resistant which means that it can be submerged in water up to 1 meter so it is perfectly fine if you choose to take it along with you to a water area like a swimming pool or beaches.

If there is one thing you definitely hear about XB43 is that it is portable. As it is light enough along with being wireless, you can carry it anywhere since you don’t need to worry about tugging any cables with you.

Even though the weight might be considered a little more than common, its structure doesn’t make it hard to be carried easily.

Hands-free calling

As it is a Bluetooth speaker and can connect with your phones, you can enjoy hands-free calling. You might not think it is much of a party function but it is more of a personal feature as you can work at home well and have your phone connected to your Bluetooth and enjoy your own space with extra volume.

Party connect

if you have multiple speakers then you can use the Party Connect feature which allows you to connect multiple wireless speakers through Bluetooth using this. The sound quality also syncs up perfectly which makes this a very useful feature for all the big parties and events.

Sound quality

While XB43 is known for having a good quality of sound it can also fall short at various places like high-frequency sounds. It has good mid-range audio as it is very crisp and clear sound but the quality is not the best when seen in higher frequency. It is said to come out duller than it should be.

This product is the best when it comes to mid to low volume. If you are aiming to use it at max volume or at a higher frequency then it won’t be the best. It is not as suitable for parties but rather for personal use. It was surprising to see such average performance coming from a new Sony model.

Ending thoughts

Sony SBS-XB43 is definitely a good speaker with amazing features like good battery life, water resistance, live connect and much more along with a good body. But all that falls apart when we look at the bass and its performance at a higher frequency.

It was disappointing to see Sony’s average performance with this new Bluetooth model. But, putting that aside even if it falls flat in some areas, it still works well for personal use especially if you are someone who is always on the get-go as it is light enough to store in your bag. It is a speaker which is good for personal use than a party use.
