Pros

1. Looks

This speaker is very attractive-looking. the high-end look of this speaker is because of the two-toned fabric which is much better compared to the hard plastic shell.

The sound does become tinny or rattling because of the cover even in the highest volume as already mentioned, it comes in different color and pattern options. the volume buttons are prominent on the side and it looks nice

2. Portability

The size of boom 3 is bigger than the wonder boom speaker; however, it can be easily carried around because of the shape and as it weighs less.

Compared to the wonder boom it provides a range of 150 feet and has a battery life of 15 hours.

Finally, these speakers are drop-proof, meaning that a few drops will not affect the speaker.

It is rated IP67 meaning that it is highly dustproof and waterproof and can be submerged. making it ideal for a camping pool party or beach.

3. Sound quality

The speaker can be used for music at parties and gatherings with high noise levels as it can play at a volume of up to 90 decibels. the quality of the sound is good and the equalizer setting can be adjusted as needed

The shape of the speaker allows sound in 360 degrees preventing muffled sound

When the device is placed in the center every one enjoys the music in equal quality and volume.

The sound was only cutting down when moved outside the range of 150 feet. Even when the battery is low, the sound is affected.

It comes with a good bass range providing better sound quality than other portable speaker

And if you need more sound then you can connect the device to another Bluetooth speaker of the boom series.

However, there is no microphone in this speaker so if you are playing music using your phone and a call comes you can not reply through the speaker.

4. Battery life

The battery life of this speaker is 15 hours which might not be a very positive feature but it is not a drawback either.

If you are playing music at maximum volume and using an app to control it is more likely that you will get enough playback time.

You will get a playback time of 15 hours if you hear at low volume and don’t touch it.

Short battery life is a common problem in portable speakers. The manufacturer will give the maximum time that most people will not need in practical use.

A Micro-USB cord is provided with the speaker and it takes 6 hours to charge it completely.

You can also use Ultimate Ears Power Up charging dock which comes for 40 dollars to charge the speaker in less than 3 hours

Cons

1. The app

The speaker app is nice for controlling the speaker remotely.

However, when you count the device to the speaker, this app force opens, not giving you the option to decide whether you wish to see the app or not.

Even if you play music from another app, the music will stop and the app will open waiting for your input which can be irritating when you are busy.

2. Turning the speaker on or off

Turning this speaker on or off is difficult.

There is a volume button to increase and decrease the sound and a button for everything else.

Controlling this device is difficult. When you wish to turn off the speaker by pressing the magic button, the playlist might change. or the songs might change or something else might happen.

To turn it off it had to be left aside till the battery would die as no matter how many times the button is pushed the power is not turned off.

Making it a big thumbs down.

JBL Charge 5 and JBL Flip are great alternatives for this speaker as they are portable and waterproof with similar prices and feature without any worry to turn the speaker on or off
